  • Mitie has been awarded Silver membership within The 5% Club
  • The accreditation recognises Mitie’s consistent commitment to providing earn and learn opportunities, with over 1,400 apprentices currently working at Mitie
  • Mitie’s Silver membership is a recognition of its commitment to develop emerging talent, which has also contributed to the achievement of three consecutive listings as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer

Mitie has been awarded Silver status within The 5% Club, recognising its progress towards achieving 5% of its workforce in earn and learn positions, such as apprentices, graduates on training schemes, sponsored students, and interns. Bringing together a group of over 1,100 organisations devoted to apprenticeships and other earn and learn schemes, which enable people from all backgrounds to train and reskill, The 5% Club collectively supports 1.9 million employees, with more than 108,000 individuals participating in earn and learn schemes.

Apprenticeships are a cornerstone of colleague development at Mitie, with the business investing £15.2 million in apprenticeships since 2017, and currently employing over 1,400 apprentices. Mitie’s Apprenticeship Levy spend has doubled since 2021 and it has increased the number of learners by 50% in the same timeframe. This year-on-year growth has led to it recently being listed as a Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer for the third consecutive year, with its position improving each time.

Mitie supports colleagues through apprenticeships in a diverse range of areas, from Women in Leadership schemes to Engineering, Heat Pump, Digital, and Accountancy programmes. A significant part of its strategy is also placed on shaping the skills of the future, and central to this is providing development opportunities that address key skills gaps such as green and digital skills.

The award is a reflection of Mitie’s growing commitment to providing meaningful career development for its colleagues, with an increasing number of apprentices and a clear pathway to reaching the 5% benchmark resulting in its Silver accreditation.
